Standing Yoga Poses and Asanas
Standing yoga poses are those postures in which the body is more or less upright. They are a characteristic of modern yoga and have become very popular. Before the 20th century, standing asanas were very rare. Vrikshasana is the best example of a standing yoga pose. It is a great way to practice and increase flexibility. You can do this pose on any surface, such as a mat or on your own.

Stand up straight. With arms at the sides, place your palms on the floor. Exhale slowly. As you relax, your back leg should be flat. The front knee should be slightly lowered. Your elbows should be parallel to the ground. The feet should be in a straight line. Your arms should be at shoulder height. Your gaze should be forward, as if you were facing a wall. You can also try lying down and trying this pose.
