A gentle Class that begins with breath awareness before warming the body up, ready to guide it through a sequence of asanas designed to improve strength and flexibility.
The class winds down to a relaxation period, allowing the body and breath to settle.
Its open to all levels, where you start is not important, with practise the body will adapt to the movements, which can be adapted to suit the body.

Established in 2008 , Birch Tree Yoga Studio is a beautiful private Studio owned by Karen Percival, a very experienced & dynamic teacher . The Studio is set in beautiful woodland , on the edge of the ancient Forest of Bere. Class size is small ,12 in a class ,and the Studio offers a range of daytime & evening classes. As with anywhere that offers excellent service , Birch Tree Yoga is always busy so there are usually waiting lists to join. However it is well worth the wait ,apart from great teaching ,the classes are very good value and there is ample , off road free parking.

6-7pm Friday Evenings. Open to all abilities, the class begins with awareness of breath and how it affects the body. After a gentle warm up, you are guided through a sequence of postures (asanas), before coming to rest, allowing the breath and body to settle in a relaxation period.
I like to pause a little in each posture to allow time to explore how your body and breath feels before moving on to the next posture.
I am very grateful the hall is well heated with additional big heaters so it is never cold.

Active Birth Pregnancy Yoga is gentle yet effective, adapted specially for pregnancy to help ease aches and pains, promote wellbeing, and prepare your body and mind for birth. These special classes include not only gentle stretches and movements to help you remain healthy and comfortable throughout your pregnancy, but also active birth preparation, relaxation, discussion and refreshments.
You can attend anytime during pregnancy, from 14 weeks until the birth of your baby.
The atmosphere is relaxed and individual needs are taken into consideration e.g. alternative postures are given where appropriate. Regular attendance is advised to give you the greatest benefit, and classes are to be booked in advance. Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings.
Postnatal / Mum & Baby Yoga is very supportive, restorative, nurturing and relaxing for you and your baby following birth and during the postnatal period, and can be attended from when your baby is approximately 6 weeks old up until they are crawling. A really special way to spend time with each other during these very precious, amazing (yet sometimes challenging) early weeks and months, giving you both the opportunity to relax, connect, breathe, play, move and stretch together. Postnatal Yoga is gentle, specifically designed to meet your needs as a new mum, allowing you to exercise safely whilst gradually returning alignment, flexibility, balance and strength to your body following pregnancy and birth. The classes incorporate a tea and chat time, an opportunity to ask questions and to share experiences with other mums and a postnatal doula in a supportive environment. Baby Massage is also included. Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
Mums-Only Yoga classes are available bi-weekly on Sunday evenings, and can be attended by mums of babies or young children from 10 weeks postnatal.
No previous yoga experience is necessary and classes are suitable for all levels of fitness and flexibility.
